RUTH HOLLAND, DESIGNER
The Sampson County signature quilt design incorporates a millstone which ties into the idea behind “Milling Around”, the Public Art Project in downtown Clinton. The four barns around the center of the millstone represents our farming heritage, as well as the barns located at the Sampson County History Museum.
The earth tone colors remind us of our agricultural heritage and our dependence on nature and the earth.
The colors and overall design evoke memories of our local Native American culture, and the rich history shared by all of Sampson County’s citizens.
