Celebrate art, history, and freedom! The First in Freedom Art Contest, hosted locally by the Sampson Arts Council in partnership with the Sampson County History Museum, invites high school students and adults to submit artwork inspired by freedom and civic ideals. Local winners will advance to the regional competition, with their work showcased during the First in Freedom Festival of NC, honoring America’s 250th anniversary at Moores Creek National Battlefield in 2026. 🎨Learn more and register at sampsonhistory.org/art-contest.
Sampson County artists will compete in two categories:
High School (Grades 9-12) – Public and private school students
Adult (Ages 19 and up)

Exhibition & Reception:
Accepted artwork will be displayed at the Sampson County History Museum from July 10–24, 2025.
An Artist Reception will be held on July 10, 2025, from 5:30–7:30 PM, where winners will be announced.
