Participants may register their cars until Noon at the City Market on the day of the event. Oldies 1170 AM will be broadcasting live from the car show with Bob Stroud and the Boogies Shoes Network.\nMuseum Day — The Sampson County History Museum\, located on Lisbon Street\, will offer a variety of free demonstrations and exhibits to fair-goers from 10 am until 3 pm.\nLive Music —  There will be live local music on the square at the intersection of College and Main Streets.\n\n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Join the Annual Coharie Indian Cultural Pow Wow on September 9-10\, 2022 at the Coharie Tribal Center in Clinton\, North Carolina. \nCelebrate and honor Native American culture and experience American Indian drumming and dancing competitions\, American Indian food\, crafts\, artwork\, and exhibits. The Coharie Indian Cultural Pow Wow is a time of education\, enjoyment and good food for the whole family. \nEach Coharie Indian Cultural Pow Wow dance session begins with a grand entry\, a procession of royalty and dancers. The flag bearers lead the procession carrying the eagle staff\, the American flag\, and frequently\, the POW/MIA flag. Being a flag bearer is an honor usually given to a veteran\, a respected traditional dancer\, or an elder. Indian royalty is next\, consisting of tribal and organizational princesses\, braves\, and other dignitaries. The head dancers lead a single file procession of dancers arranged by category and age. As a sign of respect\, everyone is asked to stand during the grand entry and men should remove their head coverings. \nCulture\, heritage\, and pride run strong among the people of the Coharie Tribe. Since 1969\, the Annual Coharie Indian Cultural Pow Wow has been a way to celebrate and maintain Native American traditions. SUMMARY:2021 Alive After Five Concert Series (featuring BAND OF OZ)
DESCRIPTION:The Band of Oz was formed in 1967 as a part-time band playing fraternity parties and high school proms all over the South. In 1977 the band went on the road full time. Since that time the band has made an exceptional name for itself throughout the Southeast by playing the top clubs and corporate parties\, and getting excellent reviews along the way. For several years the group has been a guest on most of the major beach concerts in the Carolinas\, Virginia\, and Georgia. \nThe Band of Oz is one of the most successful groups in the Southeast\, and continues to get the very best reviews from the top people in the entertainment business. The band now features a full horn section to total a dynamic eight-member group. They still perform well over two-hundred shows per year for corporate events\, festivals\, concerts\, wedding receptions\, and many other public and private events.

SUMMARY:Guided Kayak Tour with the Coharie Tribe Community
DESCRIPTION:Join members of the Coharie community on a day journey including a guided kayak tour on their Great Coharie Creek\, as well as a community lunch. Participants will meet at the Coharie Tribe’s Cultural Center near Clinton\, NC. River shuttle\, lunch and all activities are included. \nThe Great Coharie Creek has deep cultural significance to the Coharie people; and as a result\, they strive to protect and maintain access to this threatened river for recreation\, subsistence\, and cultural uses. With the goal of sharing their culture with discerning visitors\, and to explore river-based livelihoods for their youth\, Coharie people are now welcoming visitors in partnership with People First Tourism\, an organization affiliated with NC State University\, that helps travelers connect in deep and genuine ways with local communities. \nThe event will run rain or shine\, with activities adapted according to river and weather conditions. Registered participants will receive advice on how to dress appropriately for the event\, as well as specific driving directions. \nThe ticket price includes equipment rental\, but participants can also use their own kayak and equipment. \nPurchase tickets here.

Join Hubb’s for our 5th Annual Tough as a Farmer Competition Saturday\, November 2. Once you’ve completed this agriculture-themed farm Ninja warrior challenge\, you’ll know just how tough a farmer must be. Competition will begin at 2 with female contestants and the men’s competition will follow. Registration will begin online Sept. 15; fee is $35 through Oct. 31\, and $40 after Oct. 31. Registration includes Tough as a Farmer T-shirt\, competition\, and a Silver Pass. \n1st and 2nd place winners in the men’s and women’s divisions will win a prize. First place is $500\, and second place is $250. Rain date is Sunday\, November 3. \nAs fall comes to an end\, we’re going out with a SMASH! On Sunday\, November 3\, Hubb’s guests will have the opportunity to smash pumpkins while supplies last. Open from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.\, so get here early!
